This Extension collects and transmits personal and sensitive user data to provide its enhancement services for free and to support the Quality Viewership Initiative (QVI). This data is strictly limited to your viewing history on supported VOD platforms (e.g., Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video), your VOD profile names, and technical identifiers. We use this information to generate aggregated, anonymized research insights for the entertainment industry. This model allows us to maintain our portfolio of enhancement tools without charging user fees. By installing this extension, you provide explicit consent for this data collection. You may opt-out at any time via the Extension Options page toggle.

At HideApp LLC, protecting your privacy is our top priority. We are committed to transparency regarding how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal data when you use our Website and Extensions. This Privacy Policy describes our data processing practices captured via the Chrome Extension. Any references to us, we, or our refer to HideApp LLC, 1021 E Lincolnway, Cheyenne, WY, Laramie, US, 82001. We act as the data controller for personal data collected through the Extension.

Technical data: Information collected under Chrome Permissions, including:

Your hashed email address is used as a unique ID for research participation.
Profile names used within supported VOD services.

Demographic data: Information you provide or demographic insights inferred from secure, hashed email matching with trusted partners who have obtained your prior consent.

VOD activity data: Information about your interaction strictly with streaming platforms, including:

Movies and TV series viewing history on supported VODs, such as titles and watch times.
Content preferences and detailed streaming behavior, such as watch time and completion rates.

We do NOT collect or access your general browser history, financial data, personal communications, or any activity on non-streaming websites.

2. How We Collect Your Data (Collection Methods)

We obtain your data primarily through:

Direct collection: Information you provide directly.
Automated collection: Information automatically collected from active VOD browser tabs when you use the Extension.
Email matching: To ensure research accuracy, we may use a cryptographic hash of your email to match it with demographic databases, only with partners who have obtained your prior consent.

This Extension DOES NOT use cookies, web beacons, or similar tracking technologies to monitor your activity across the web. We do not store any persistent tracking identifiers in your browser.

3. How We Use Your Data and Legal Bases (Handling)

We use your data for the following purposes:

4. Google API and Data Limited Use Policy (Handling)

Our Extension strictly processes content-specific viewing data from supported VOD platforms. We do not access, collect, or store your general browser history. We strictly prohibit the use of this viewing data for personalized advertising, credit-worthiness assessment, or any purpose other than providing the enhancement features and conducting the stated research.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Data Sharing and Anonymization (Sharing)

We only share anonymized and aggregated data with our commercial partners. Your personally identifiable information is never sold.

Service providers: Third parties who perform technical services on our behalf, such as hosting.
Research companies: Only anonymized, group-level datasets.
Legal Authorities: We may share data if required by law or court order.

6. Data Retention (Storage Duration)

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the research purposes of the Quality Viewership Initiative or to comply with legal obligations. Specific retention periods include:

Personal data: Stored for a maximum of 12 months before being fully anonymized or deleted.
Technical identifiers: Retained for the duration of your use of the Extension.
Opt-out data: If you use the technical opt-out, we cease all collection immediately and delete your historical identifiable data within 30 days.
Support tickets: If you decide to contact us via Freshdesk, our ticketing platform, we shall delete the ticket within 30 days of closing the case.

7. Data Storage and Security (Storage Handling)

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers located within the European Union (EU). We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data:
